Perfect Pulled Pork
Pulled pork is easy to make. Follow these instructions for the perfect pulled pork that you can serve on buns with coleslaw for yummy sandwiches or serve in a corn tortilla with salsa for delicious tacos.
Ingredients:
Pork butt or pork shoulder
Fresco Pork Rub
Your favorite BBQ Sauce
Season the ENTIRE cut of meat with Fresco Pork Rub and place in a preheated 250 degree oven. Place fat side up in large roasting pan.
The pork needs to roast for about an 1.5 hours per pound or until it reaches 190 degrees. Remember, for the perfect pulled pork you need to go LOW and SLOW. Using paper towels, pat the pork dry. Season the ENTIRE cut of meat with Fresco Pork Rub and place in a preheated 250 degree oven.
When your pork has internally reached 190 degrees, remove it from the oven and cover it with foil. I would recommend thirty minutes. Allow your pork to rest and reabsorb all those delicious juices.
Now let the fun begin! Get another family member to grab two forks along with you. Insert forks and start pulling your pork. (Some pork will shred better than others.) You may choose to remove a bit of the fat before pulling but that is totally up to your taste.
Soon, you will have a pan full of beautiful pulled pork. ( In our home we like to serve it plain with a little BBQ on the side, and of course, a big dollop of coleslaw on the top!) But again that is a personal preference. If you are serving this for a large gathering, I would transfer all the meat into your slow cooker, coat it with BBQ, and keep it heated on warm. It will stay warm and keep your guests happy and satisfied.
Freeze left overs in ziplock bags for later use.
